Renowned Jewish Educator, Rabbi Ron Wolfson, Publishes Book on Communal Leadership

LOS ANGELES — ý (AJU) announced today the release of “Jewish Communal Leadership: Lessons Learned from Leading Practitioners,” the latest book by Dr. Ron Wolfson, an acclaimed educator, organizational innovator and recent graduate of AJU’s Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies. Published by the Kripke Institute, this essential resource addresses the leadership challenges of building thriving Jewish communities and institutions now and in the future.

The vitality of Jewish communities and institutions depends on the visionary leadership of both professionals and lay leaders. Dr. Wolfson’s book addresses this critical need by offering a comprehensive and interactive guide for leaders working to build strong, forward-facing Jewish communities and institutions. The book features nine in-depth interviews about lessons learned by top leaders from a diverse array of Jewish organizations—including Federations, Jewish Community Centers, synagogues, day schools, Hillels, foundations and more.

"The Jewish communal spirit is not just about the institutions we build, but about the leaders who guide these institutions with vision, dedication and a commitment to our shared future," said Dr. Ron Wolfson. "Through these candid conversations, we offer a window into the challenges and triumphs of those at the forefront of Jewish communal life."

“Jewish Communal Leadership” is designed as an interactive volume and proves to be an invaluable tool for leadership teams to read and discuss together. The book includes discussion questions that focus on the practical application of the content, where no topic is off-limits.

"The stark honesty presented in the book gives true insight into what it takes to lead the Jewish people in an ever-changing world,” said Rabbi Noah Farkas, president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. “Whether you want to be a Jewish professional or work with Jewish professionals, the organic wisdom found in this work shows you a path in your own leadership journey."

In conjunction with the book's release, Dr. Wolfson will appear on AJU's Open Learning Platform to further discuss these themes of Jewish leadership. For more information or to purchase “Jewish Communal Leadership: Lessons Learned from Leading Practitioners,” please visit.
